I Hate The Giants

Let’s discuss the New York Giants for a minute.

I hate the New York Giants.

Every single season in the last 8 years this team has been a bunch of dogs in the second half of the season, rolling over and turning division leads to deficits. They go from a professional football team to a bunch of replacements that don’t deserve to be in the national football league.

It happened in Tom Coughlin’s first season, it happened during the Super Bowl run of 2007 (yep a few bad losses including a stinker versus Minnesota that had New York calling for Eli Manning’s job), it happened once Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg, and it’s happening again right now.

But this collapse may take the cake. A close loss to the 9-2 San Francisco 49ers was acceptable. We showed we belonged in their class. The loss to the Philadelphia Eagles the next week however was disgraceful. There was no Michael Vick, no Jeremy Maclin, Vince Young in his first start of the year and the Eagles were reeling… And they pushed the Giants around like a bunch of sissies and left the meadowlands with another win.

It was the kind of loss that kills you as a fan. The Giants came off a tough loss, play a division rival that they beat weeks earlier and have clear advantages against and you lay that fat of an egg? It made me so mad I threw the tantrum of the year in public.

So now your division lead is gone, you look like absolute crap a week ago and you face Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. You as a team give it all you got and take it to Brees and the Saints right?

Nope, well at least the defense anyway.

Eli and the passing offense looked in sync throughout the game while once again the run game was atrocious as Brandon Jacobs thievery of money for his performance of tip toeing to the lune if scrimmage was on display again last night.

(I hate Brandon Jacobs. Ever since he got paid his 6-4 270 pound frame has been worthless. He’s been a whiny, sulking, soft mess who has becoming a thorn in the Giants side. His end zone celebration last night when he wouldn’t leave the field was just another example of his immaturity and tge fact that he doesn’t get it. You’re down 18 points. Score and get the hell off of the field. Victor Cruz did it and he’s five years your junior in the league you jack ass. Jerry Reese please cut him.)

But the biggest offenders were the defense last night. That was a lazy, pathetic performance that disrespected the long legacy of toughness the previous Giant defenders invented. Leonard Marshall, Carl Banks, Lawrence Taylor, Michael Strahan and other legendary Giants defenders should be embarrassed to equate these bums with themselves.

Justin Tuck quit, the defensive line got pushed around, the defense was caught off guard and not properly set several times (this is an NFL team mind you) Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips decided not to attempt to make plays on the ball and stand flat footed in the secondary, Aaron Ross let Jimmy Graham go untouched for a score and Corey Webster gave up on a Pierre Thomas run and turned around and walked back to the bench even though Thomas was 8 yards from the end zone…

Yeah that was an epically long run-on sentence, the Giants can’t stop bad punctuation either.

Pretty much if your name wasn’t Manning, Cruz or Jason Pierre-Paul you had no right boarding that flight home because you showed no effort or care last night. Take the bus.

The crazy thing about it is even though the Giants looked like a minor league team last night, they are still only one game back in a horrid NFC East and play the Dallas Cowboys twice. The Cowboys play one of the easiest schedules in the league but haven’t looked impressive at all. Even if the Cowboys pull away there is still a shot at the Wildcard with the Bears struggling without Jay Cutler and The Lions losing ways lately and the fact that they just lost Ndamukong Suh for two games due to suspension.

In other words the Giants are still very much alive for the playoffs if they can show that they give a damn.

Coach Coughlin can yell all he wants but this team either wants it or it doesn’t. You can’t use excuses anymore at this point in the season. Just play the damn game and show some effort, because after last it’s hard to believe that this poor excuse of a team could be a playoff contender.

The Giants have five games to right the ship starting with the Green Bay Packers this week (pray for the Giants). They are in the midst of another late season collapse that could cost Coughlin and lots of players their jobs.

Do yourselves a favor and play like you give a damn over the next few weeks and earn a playoff spot that as of right now you don’t deserve.

Your fans and your coach is sick of this type of performance on the field, when will you all be as well?

Yeah it too bad for Giants fans. I have never liked the RB situation, I love Eli, I think he is very solid! And Coughlin seems to not have complete control of team

Funny you mention that bad loss against the Vikings in 2007, because the Tom Coughlin Giants oddly remind me of the Dennis Green Vikings. Look at the similarities:

    1) A boob for a head coach
    2) A good, but not great quarterback (pre-blown knee Culpepper)
    3) An OK, sometimes good running game
    4) A completely over-rated passing game
    5) Questionable team discipline (see #1)
    6) Started with a pretty good O-line that eventually broke down due to age
