Welcome to coaching class 101. Today’s lesson is breaking down an opponent so badly that it makes you cringe the day after the game while you’re watching the tape of said game.
Coach Rex Ryan we’re talking to you buddy. Last night you and your J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS got hosed, beat down, kicked in the head and every other violent action that you can think of.
Tom Brady carved up the Jets like a thanksgiving turkey to the tune of his 33rd 300 yard game and four touchdowns, and he made it look easy in a 45-3.
It was an array of shovel passes, slants, go routes and running between the tackles. Danny Woodhead’s two short screens turned into two huge gains that set up touchdowns, Aaron Hernandez continues to be Tom Brady’s go to guy with another touchdown catch and a sick 35 yard catch and run, by the way he’s a rookie, Deion Branch is back to playing larger than life on the field, something he didn’t do in Seattle, and all the New York Jets did was stand around stupefied.
As much credit as we give you as a defensive mastermind Mr. Ryan you got nothing on Bill Belichick. Your defense is loaded with all-pro’s and guys that fit your mold and have been underachieving long before this game. They couldn’t slow down Peyton Hillis or Matt Schaub in games you should’ve lost. You’ve gotten little out of Antonio Cromartie this year as well as Jason Taylor and you seem overrated for the most part as a coach.
Meanwhile, Belichick and his defense that was largely lauded for being too young and not that good is getting better week after week. Rookie defensive back Devin McCourtey is a stud with 6 interceptions, Brandon Spikes, another rookie, is playing middle linebacker extremely well in Belichick’s system and Brandon Merriweather is becoming a very good cover safety. Belichick has fewer marquee parts offensively and defensively but is getting more out of his players as we saw last night as each side of the ball kept coming up with play after play while the Jets underachieved once again and this time it bit them in the rear as they were playing a team that knows how to finish.
For you Rex Ryan… this is what you deserve. You ran your mouth about Belichick and the Patriots which led to you writing a check that your rear couldn’t cash. Your boy Mark Sanchez is still a liability at the quarterback position as he looked terrible last night throwing horrendous interceptions. Your team looked unprepared in every facet of the game and you couldn’t do anything about it. You gave us a bunch of hype, you bloated the new rivalry in the AFC, you made your team seem larger than life and you got housed.
You failed your final exam and instead of a top seed in the AFC you may now be relegated to a wild card. Now go back to the film room look at what you did wrong and get back to winning the right way on the field. Enough talking, enough media hype, enough of your mouth, just play the game the right way because the guy that you kept pushing off the field pushed you around on the field and it wasn’t close. The patriots took you to school and served up a lesson for anyone watching, they are the best team in the league and looked like they’re headed for a date in Dallas in February. Take note for future tests Mr. Ryan.
